Ch. Hardiyal: A Life of Service and Leadership

Chaudhary Hardiyal, son of Pholo Ram, was born on July 20, 1937, in Lamba Gaon, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. A man of intellect and dedication, he pursued his education with distinction, earning a B.A. from Degree College Dharamshala and an LL.B. from Law College Jalandhar. He married in December 1960 and was blessed with three sons, who went on to become a social worker, an agriculturist, and an advocate. During his college years, he actively participated in social service camps, showcasing his passion for helping others early on.

Ch. Hardiyal began his law practice in Dharamshala in 1962. His legal career was complemented by a deep involvement in public service. He was first elected to the State Legislative Assembly on a Congress ticket in 1967, and again in 1972, 1977, and 1993. He served as the leader of the Congress Legislative Group and held various ministerial positions. From 1972 to 1977, he served as Minister of State in the Council of Ministers, and from 1980 to 1982, he held the esteemed position of Forest Minister.

Throughout his political career, Ch. Hardiyal remained deeply committed to the well-being of the KGBC community. He devoted his life to serving his people and uplifting the community through his leadership, vision, and tireless efforts. His contributions were not confined to the local arena; he also represented the community and the state on international platforms, visiting Germany, France, the USA, and Japan.

Ch. Hardiyal left for his heavenly abode on September 15, 2001. His life was one of remarkable dedication, and he remains an inspiration to all who knew him. The KGBC community will always remember him for his exceptional leadership, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of society. Truly, he was one of a kind.
